I think that the Bible is a book for all seasons, all cultures and all centuries. I found that a paraphrased translation called "the Message" is current in its language and very easy to understand. I like to read it with a more traditional NIV or New King James alongside. I am finding, also, that Joyce Meyers who has a daily broadcast on "Vision" TV brings scripture to life and proves its value in today's world.
